Shed Construction update and fly-over video

June 2020: Town of Cambridge Announce Project Underway

Site preparation works are underway for the construction of the Cambridge Community Shed, which will be built within the Lake Monger recreation precinct in Wembley. The removal of the old parks depot building, irrigation re-location, and tree lopping have cleared the site ready for construction which is due to commence in late July. Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said the Town had been working with the Rotary Club of Cambridge to establish this important community facility. “We are pleased to finally start to build a Community Shed in the Town of Cambridge,” she said. “The work produced by members at the Community Shed can be a project of their own or a project that responds to a need in our local community. “The Community Shed will expand on the successful Men’s Shed initiative and welcome everyone in the Cambridge community to benefit from the local hub. “The Men’s Shed movement has become one of the most powerful tools in addressing health and wellbeing and helping men participate in ...

March 2020: Design & Construction Tenders called

The Cambridge Community Shed Team has been working with the Town of Cambridge to simplify the design of the Shed.  This technical work has now reached the stage where the Town of Cambridge has called for public tenders for the Design and Construction of the Shed at Lake Monger. Tenders close - 18 March 20.

February 2020: CCS builds a 80m (albeit not very tall!) wall

Working with LMRC members, Shed members helped build and install 80 linear metres of limestone wall at Lake Monger Club. We could have picked a cooler day;

January 2020: CCS Social Evening

To kick-off 2020, the Shed Team organised a bowls / BBQ evening at the Lake Monger Recreation Club which was a terrific success with 80 members, partners and members of the W.A.  Deaf Recreation Association and Petanque Clubs also joining in. The evening would not have been such a success without the bowls tuition from Rob Mosely and Peter Hill from the LMRC bowls club. I am not sure we identified any hidden talents.

Q3&Q4 2019 Visiting other Sheds

During the latter half of 2019 Shed members visited a number of other sheds to help us learn from their experiences. In particular to assist with our equipment purchase selections, shed layout designs, get a better understanding of the typical projects that they undertake, and also to understand the secrets of installing dust extractions systems. Visits included: •  Vincent Shed visit; •  Mosman Park Community Shed; and •  Manning Shed.

November 2019: AGM

We conducted our AGM in late November 19 which was very well attended. Robert Fredericks was elected to join the Shed Board. Fees for the next year will be $70
